The importance of rest

This training tip is about the importance of rest. Today’s meditation is about the importance of making your recovery and healing a priority over other life challenges.
Soon after my bike accident in 2014, I was shocked by the devastating pain that even sitting or standing caused. I was scheduled to teach a workshop, a 3 hour drive away. I considered canceling, but was urged not to; it was sold out and people were depending on me.

I somehow survived the 10-hour workshop but the setback on my return was devastating, greatly prolonging recovery.

We need rest when injured and when pain is severe.

I could have rescheduled the workshop and recaptured my earnings later.

Chinese grandmother wisdom tells us that Health is our greatest treasure. We have bills to pay and duties to fulfill, but health and recovery need to be balanced with other priorities. There is no magic formula for these adjustments, but they’re needed.

May you find the balance you need in your recovery.
